Barre chords are when you press down more than one string with one finger. For example a “full” barre chord is when you press down all 6 strings with one finger.

Barre chords are the biggest challenge any beginner will ever face on guitar.

The reason?

They require more muscle and finger strength than open chords. And they use a new fretting hand position.

And even when you start to get them sounding good, you then have to change to them quickly.

For most beginners they take around 6 months to master. And that’s with daily practice.

It’s a challenge. But you will get there.

The important thing is to accept they’re going to sound bad at first, but play them anyway. PERSEVERANCE!
