The lower the action, the closer the strings are to the fretboard, therefor the easier it is to press down the strings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Ideally you want the strings as low as possible without effecting the guitar tone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Sometimes, cheaper guitars have a higher action and this makes them harder to play.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The &#8220;action is measured in millimeters (mm)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>To measure your action use a tape measure\/ruler at the 12th fret to measure the distance of the strings from the fretboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>If your action is between 2-4mm then you&#8217;re guitar is well set up. A low guitar action is 2.38mm.
